About Julia
Julia Furukawa grew up in Seattle, Washington, listening to NPR and reading The Seattle Times when it was more than a little nerdy to do so.
She graduated early from the Honors College at Western Washington University in 2020 with a degree in journalism and a Spanish concentration.
Julia knows the value of local news. She served as a reporter and assistant managing editor for The Paris News in Paris, Texas, covering the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 election.
At New Hampshire Public Radio, Julia wears many hats as a former producer and now reporter and host. She’s the voice many people drive home with and who keeps them company while they cook dinner.
Julia specializes in reporting on Indigenous communities and has broken stories about Indigenous identity fraud in New Hampshire.
She’s an avid rock climber, an amateur chef, a mother to one cat and a friend to many.
